Thought They Should Know

I really enjoy Lands’ End, I do. We have an Inlet store just a stone’s throw from the house, and I’ve scored great bargains on jeans and shoes there. And I just love their shoes in general.

But when I was shopping their website the other day, I noticed this picture in the sidebar:

The caption said “a FRESH look in plus size,” but I hate to be the one to have to tell Lands’ End that horizontal stripes haven’t been a fresh look in plus size, since, well, powdered wigs were in fashion. And they weren’t really “fresh” then, either.

The Cancer Cat Chronicles

D started this as a simple email, but it grew into a journal of sorts. Though some of you have read this already, I thought I’d share it here. I hadn’t intended to - I didn’t want to write about this here at all - but D has summarized the details of our last week so very well, and likewise has captured the fragility and strength we’ve both found in these intense days such that I felt compelled to share it here.

There’s more, much more, to come as we face the next steps of this journey.

Darling got the job, which is sort of unbelievable and entirely believable all at one. Of course he got it. Who doubted he would? Certainly not me.

On the other hand - Belgium. He's going to Belgium. On the first.

To celebrate, we went to a restaurant and ordered a bottle of their best champagne. We did. It was like a movie, like getting engaged, and just like life should be.
